Cart-mounted Remote Sensor Device
- Hong Kong Polytechnic University is committed to the Hong Kong 24-hour Charity Pedal Cart Grand Prix. This project utilizes a cart-mounted remote sensor system, using “Internet of Things (IoT)” technology to support event management and monitor the status of competition cyclists, facilitating team allocation and achieving the best competition results.
- Heart beat, speed, and other data collected by the sensors are transmitted to the M451 motherboard and then transmitted to the bluetooth collector via the CAN Bus. Data is then sent to the smartphone in order for data informatization. The cellphone acts as a hub around which sensors, bluetooth, databases, networks, and objects are established to create the “IoT” concept.
- The central system we have designed can be used for centralized management and control of both pedal carts and cyclists. Cyclists, being able to understand their own physical status during cycling, will be able to adjust their own cycling speed and strengths. Team leaders can also refer to processed data to replace team members, parts, vehicles, and make other decisions, helping team members find the perfect relay and resting time.
